There are two engines available among the five trim levels. Although the GT isn’t going to be available until November, we can still explore its engine performance. The first engine that provides power to the 2021 Kia K5 is a 1.6-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine that is standard on the LX, LXS, GT-Line, and EX trims. This engine produces up to 180 horsepower and 195 lb-ft of torque. The second engine is a 2.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine that is standard on the GT trim only. This engine delivers up to 290 horsepower and 311 lb-ft of torque.
Paired with the 1.6L turbocharged engine is an 8-speed automatic transmission. The 2.5L turbocharged engine is paired with an 8-speed wet type dual clutch automatic transmission with steering-wheel-mounted paddle shifters. All five trims are equipped with front-wheel drive but the LXS and GT-Line trims have all-wheel drive with Electronically-Controlled Transfer Case available as an option.
