It seems that we all drive a lot more in the summer. Whether it’s long family road trips, or heading out to the lake. Here are some gas saving tips to save you some money this summer.

Roll through Green Lights

Did you know that if you let your car roll a little when the light changes from red to green you can save gas? Seriously, if you don’t treat lights like an Indy 500 start you can save up to 30% on gas each year. This is because you allowing momentum to start the forward movement rather than flooding the engine with gas by accelerating quickly. It may seem like a little thing, but it adds up to a lot. So, relax, admire the view and slowly ease through those green lights. Your wallet will thank you. Keeping your car well-tuned will also help to make it the most efficient it can be. Just like you plan your weekly grocery list, you can also plan your errands. It will save you time and money. Look at your list of tasks and see if any of them can be grouped together. Less trips means less gas usage. Do you have any errands near a gas station? Then take the opportunity to fill-up, all the way up. A lot of little trips to the gas station to “top off” may make you feel like you are saving money, but all those little trips use gas too. Another important thing is to never ignore your warning lights. If your tank is on empty or your oil change indicator is on, be sure to take care of it.

Consider a Hybrid
